1. HUMANA SIMVASTATIN PRICING UPDATE According to Humana, the pricing on Simvastatin is currently inflated due to the limited number of manufacturers. This drug is not on any MAC list and they are trying to develop a “work-around” that can correct this problem. This fix should go into effect during the first week of August. Humana will backdate this fix so that claims filled incorrectly can be reversed and resubmitted. 2. AETNA MAC INCREASE ON SIMVASTATIN Effective Friday, July 21, 2006, Aetna has increased their MAC prices on Simvastatin. Most of the strengths prices have gone up approximately 30 cents per tablet. The new MAC prices are listed below: · Simvastatin 5mg $1.56/tablet · Simvastatin 10mg $1.96/tablet · Simvastatin 20mg $2.80/tablet · Simvastatin 40mg $2.80/tablet · Simvastatin 80mg $2.60/tablet 3. EXPRESS SCRIPTS MAC ADJUSTMENTS ON SIMVASTATIN Express Scripts has informed us they will be updating their MAC prices on Simvastatin within the next day or so. These MAC increases will affect TRICARE and Medicare Part D plans that use WHI as a processor. These plans include AARP, Wellcare, and Oxford Medicare.
