1.    MECLIZINE REIMBURSEMENTS:  HIP NY

Due to system issues, HIP NY is reimbursing below cost on Meclizine 25mg tablets.  If you have filled any scripts for this product, check your reimbursement and call HIP NY at 800-992-6227 for a price override.  HIP is aware of this problem and is trying to correct it.

2.    MEDICARE HOTLINE FOR PHARMACISTS

The Medicare Rights Center is offering a Hotline for Professionals with information about Medicare Part D at 877-RXHELP-0.  The helpline offers helpful explanations of benefit changes and other useful information you can pass on to your patients.

3.    NEW YORK MEDICAID BILLING CHANGE

Effective March 1, 2008 New York Medicaid is no longer accepting hospital MMIS for billing.  Stores must use the attending physician’s license number or their MMIS to process these claims.

4.    XOPENEX REIMBURSEMENT:  MEDICARE PART B

Medicare Part B has cut reimbursement on Xopenex Inhalation Solution.  CMS has deleted the special billing code specifically for Xopenex. The blending of these codes has significantly reduced payment for Xopenex and significantly raises the reimbursement on generic albuterol. You may want to contact the physician to discuss alternative drug therapies.
