    1.    ABBOTT GLUCOMETER REPLACEMENTS AND RETURNS

If your customer comes into your store for an Abbott meter, do not have them call

Abbott.  Abbott is referring all patients to Liberty Medical.  If your patient requires a

meter, you should call Abbott and have them send the replacement to your pharmacy

so that you can provide it to the patient.

In cases of other manufacturers, you should also call them yourself and have the

manufacturer send the new meter directly to the patient or to your pharmacy.

As you know, when Liberty gets the call, you lose the test strip business.

    2.  PRESCRIPTIONS WRITTEN BY NURSES OR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS

If a Nurse or Physician Assistant (without their own DEA number) writes and signs a

prescription, do not fill it with the covering physician’s DEA number.     Re-write it as

a phone script or get the covering physician to write a new prescription with their

signature.

It was reported at our last Board Meeting that PBM auditors are recouping the full

amount of these prescriptions and their refills.

    3.    NPI REMINDER

If you have not already registered your NPI with NCPCP you will need to do this by March 1, 2007

to ensure you don’t experience PBM/PDP payment delays.

Please be sure to fax a copy of your confirmation e-mail or letter to NCPDP by their March 1, 2007

deadline.  NCPDP’s fax number is (480) 767-1043.

Also, if you are enrolled with a Managed Care Network (such as EPN or Third Party Station) please

check with them to make sure they have done this on your behalf.
