What You Need to Know About Part D

The Medicare Modernization Act was passed on December 8, 2003. It established a voluntary drug benefit for Medicare beneficiaries and created a new Medicare Part D. Starting January 1, 2006 Medicare beneficiaries will have the option to purchase a full prescription drug benefit. This program is completely voluntary.

Community pharmacists are the most accessible health care provider and are often the first and only source of Medicare information for seniors and disabled persons.  This summer, community pharmacists will continue to receive questions from Medicare beneficiaries about this new benefit. NCPA is committed to bringing community pharmacists the most up-to-date information about Medicare Part D. This website will be updated frequently throughout 2005.
